On 3 July, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry released a statement which said that the christening of their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, would be private.
Now, the ceremony has been conducted at Windsor, with reportedly less than 25 guests in attendance. The identities of Archie’s godparents will also be kept a secret, in accordance with Harry and Meghan’s wish to live private lives.
Nonetheless, the couple released two pictures from the ceremony. In one, the Duchess of Sussex and her husband, along with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Charles, Doria Ragland, Lady Jane Fellowes, and Lady Sarah McCorquodale. In another, it’s just the tiny family of three – Meghan, Harry and Archie.

The Sussexes kept to tradition by having Archie wear the handmade replica of the Royal Christening Robe, a garment that has been passed down the royal family for years.
A Royal Communications spokesperson adds: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to share the happiness of this day, and would like to thank everyone around the world for their ongoing support. They feel so fortunate to have enjoyed this special moment with family and Archie’s godparents.”
