Oprah Winfrey talks about her mother's death

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey lost her aged mother, Vernita Lee, 83.

According to reports from People, Vernita passed away on Thanksgiving day at her home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A spokesperson for Winfrey told the AP news that Lee died on 22 November and that a private burial service was held.

Vernita was featured getting a make-over on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1990. Also in 2012, Winfrey paid tribute to her mother on social media. She posted an archive photo of herself with Vernita with the caption: “Thank you to my mother Vernita Lee for doing the best she knew and could do in raising me.”

Mourning her mother, Oprah wrote on Instagram: “Thank you all for your kind words and condolences regarding my mother Vernita Lee’s passing. It gives our family great comfort knowing she lived a good life and is now at Peace.”
