Nyekachi Douglas wins 2019 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) pageant

Nigeria has a new beauty queen! 

She is US-based model and public health researcher, Miss Nyekachi Douglas, 21, who won the crown for the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) 2019 contest held Friday night at the Friday, 11 October 2019, at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Yenegoa, Bayelsa.

Miss Douglas, who represented Rivers State, beat four other finalists including Miss Abuja, Miss Bayelsa, Miss Edo and Miss Taraba to clinch the title in a contestant that initially include 37 ladies vying for the coveted crown.

For her pet project, the new MBGN says in an Instagram post that she plans to promote personal hygiene as a means to prevent and control infection.

In her words:

Personal hygiene is very important to our health and it plays a major role in infection prevention and control. With your help, we can significantly reduce the spread of infectious disease. As a public health researcher, I am super excited to take my work to a higher platform and serve my people.”

As is the tradition for the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria winner, Miss Douglass would go on to represent Nigeria in the next Miss Universe contest coming up later in the year.
