Nneka Wins Kirkus Prize 2017.

The Kirkus prize gives out a cash prize of $50,000 for literary works of fiction, non-fiction and young reader’s literature yearly.

 

This year, Lesley Nneka Arimah, won the prize with her short story What It Means when a man falls from the sky. The short story had won the commonwealth short story prize in 2015 and was shortlisted for the Caine Prize in 2016. The story was the winner in the category of fiction.

In the non-fiction category, The Gulf: The Making of An American Sea by Jack E. Davis clinched the prize and The Marrow thieves by Cherie Dimaline won in the young readers category.
