Ava DuVernay will reportedly direct a documentary about the late rapper, Nipsey Hussle.

The late rapper’s company, Marathon Films will present a documentary which will be executive produced by RocNation and his two children, Emani and Kross Asghedom.

According to a press release by the family, they are in negotiations with Netflix for the documentary which is set to have DuVernay direct and her company, ARRAY, co-produce.

This news is coming less than a year after Hussle was fatally shot outside his clothing store in Los Angeles. It is believed that the family reached out to DuVernay because of her work on ‘When They See Us’ and 13th.

If Ava directs this, it will be her first foray into documentary filmmaking since her mass incarceration film, 13th.

Since his death, fans have mourned the singer’s death and tributes continue to pour in for him.

At Beyonce and Jay-Z’s pre-Grammys party, fans believe that the colour theme for this year’s event was intentionally curated to match Nipsey and his girlfriend, Lauren London’s outfits to the event last year.

In addition to that, Lauren London launched a clothing collection with Puma, on behalf of Nipsey.
