Nicolas Cage marries for the fifth time in secret Las Vegas wedding

Nicolas Cage has married his girlfriend Riko Shibata in a secret wedding held in Las Vegas last month according to US Magazine.

This is the fifth time the 57-year-old Hollywood superstar will be walking down the aisle and this time, he is saying that he is very happy.

Cage had been married to Patricia Arquette between 1995 and 2001, Lisa Marie Presley (from 2002 to 2004), Alice Kim (2004 to 2016), and his last marriage to Erika Koike lasted three months between March 2019 and June 2019. He filed for divorce from Koike after four days of their marriage.

The “National Treasure” star and Riko Shibata tied the knot at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas on 16 February 2021 with only a handful of people in attendance in what is described as an ‘intimate wedding’. One of his ex-wives turned friend Alice Kim also attended the wedding ceremony, she and the actor share a 15-year-old son named Kal-El.

To honour his wife’s Japanese heritage, Shibata wore a traditional handmade bridal kimono and the ceremony featured a haiku as well. Nicolas Cage wore a Tom Ford designer tuxedo in contrast and a poem by American poet Walt Whitman was also a part of the ceremony.

They even blended Catholic and Shinto vows to show acceptance of each other’s beliefs and background.

Cage and Shibata started dating about a year ago after they first met in Shiga, Japan. The date for the wedding was chosen in honour of the actor’s late father’s birthday.
