This comes amid allegations of child sexual abuse against the late singer in the bombshell documentary, Leaving Neverland.
A spokesperson for the museum said they were planning to take down the seven and a half foot monument to the King of Pop, anyway, as part of a reorganisation of their exhibits.
The spokesperson tells the Manchester Evening News: “Plans have been underway for a number of months to remove the Michael Jackson statue from display as part of our ongoing plans to better represent the stories we want to tell about football. As a result of this, the statue has now been removed.”
The statue was built outside Craven Cottage by Fulham’s former owner, Mohamed Al Fayed, after Jackson’s death aged 50 in 2009.
