Monkeypox: Rivers State-based Nigerian Activist defies FG’s warning, set to wash down monkey pepper soup with “kai kai.”

Ovonix posted the picture on Facebook in defiant of the repeated warnings from the Federal Government for people to avoid contact with the mammal to avoid an epidemic of Monkeypox in the country.

The social activist captioned the post as follows:

Even if one puts aside the considerations for the ethics for killing and eating an endangered animal species, it is not only appaling that the Ovonix is blatantly ignoring the advice given by the country, but he is also encouraging others to do the same. He used the hashtag “#WetinConcernMe” in his post, which seems to suggest a total disregard of the health concern his actions are raising, or that the outcome could be fatal.

Some of his users did not find the post funny with one commenting that “I’m unfriending you immediately…. I never wan see Christ though I have given my life to Him.”

Another said: “What I mean is that encouraging people to go about eating monkey meat in a period like this may not go down well with the authorities. Just my own opinion sha.”
