The good news is that Missy is the first-ever female rapper to be nominated following Jay-Z and Jermaine Dupri induction as the first rappers.
Other artists nominated are Mariah Carey, John Prine, the Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde, Jimmy Cliff, ELO’s Jeff Lynne, Jack Tempchin, Boyz II Men, Dean Dillon, Jerry Fuller, Tom T. Hall and more.
Missy has written songs for Aaliyah, Whitney Houston, Monica and was also behind the hit Lady Marmalade featuring Christina Aguilera, Pink, Lil Kim and Mya. Missy Elliott took to Twitter to thank her fellow nominees.
