May God make your wife the best and not a prostitute - Mercy Aigbe's estranged husband tells Gabriel Afolayan

Mercy Aigbe’s estranged husband, Lanre Gentry, has sent a controversial congratulatory message to recently wedded actor Gabriel Afolayan on the occasion of his marriage.

Gentry, in his message, suggests he hopes that Gabriel’s bride, Banke, isn’t a prostitute that pretends to be a wife – a not so subtle shading of his ex-wife, Grace Aigbe, whom he had in the past accused of infidelity.

Read the message lightly edited for clarity:

“My brother congratulations on your wedding. I pray for your marriage and I know God have made your wife the best, not the prostitute that will pretend as a wife. Once again congratulations@gabbylucciii. God will protect your home in Jesus name.”

This is coming amidst rumours of a possible reconciliation with his actress ex-wife, Aigbe.

Methinks there is too much innuendo in what is meant to be a simple congratulatory message. No need for the drama. What’s with the prostitute, a joke? Then, it was in a bad taste. There are a place and time, and this is neither. If Lanre Gentry’s focus was to diss his ex-wife, he shouldn’t use another couple’s happy occasion to do it. And in the spirit of full disclosure, I wouldn’t say I’m surprised as Gentry’s behaviour given his precedence. And if I were Mercy Aigbe, I would think seriously with regard to any reconciliation. Gentry doesn’t talk like he has learnt to respect women yet. Tsk.
