Liverpool turn to Olympiakos' Kostas Tsimikas after hitting a snag with Norwich over Jamal Lewis

Liverpool have turned their attention to signing Olympiakos left-back Kostas Tsimikas for an £11.75m fee after Norwich rejected a bid from the Reds for defender Jamal Lewis.

The 24-year-old fullback helped Olympiakos to their 45th Greek Super League title as one of the Greek side’s star performers this season before they were knocked out of the Europa League round-of-16 by Wolves.

Liverpool moved to secure Tsimikas’ signature after they were unable to agree on a fee with Norwich City for Jamal Lewis as they pursue a cover for Andy Robertson.

Norwich valued Jamal at £20m whereas Liverpool wanted to pay £10m for the left-back.

Despite being relegated from the Premier League, Norwich are under no pressure to sell the 22-year-old and have voiced their displeasure with Liverpool’s conduct in their pursuit of Lewis.

Liverpool could include 19-year-old defender Yasser Larouci as part of the deal but Norwich won’t budge on their asking price for the Northern Ireland international.

Liverpool have kept close tabs on Tsimikas for a while now, as they believe he possesses all the potential to develop into a world-class defender and he also proves to be a great value in the current economic climate.

Kostas Tsimikas is expected to fly to the UK in the coming days for a medical and to discuss personal terms.
