The Lion King has overtaken Frozen to become the highest-grossing animated film of all time.

So far, the Disney live-action remake has reportedly grossed approximately 1.34 billion dollars globally, beating Frozen’s 1.27 billion dollars.

Read: 6 box office records broken by The Lion King opening weekend.

According to the Box Office Mojo, The Lion King has so far grossed $475,911,287 domestically (The US and Canada) and $863,839,256 abroad, for a total box office worldwide gross of $1,339,750,543.

However, as per custom, the worldwide grosses are not adjusted for inflation.

Also when considering domestic earnings alone, Incredibles 2 is still at the top with $608.5 million, followed by Finding Dory with $486.2 million, then The Lion King currently. But, it should be noted that the The Lion King is not done as its cinema runs continue and may well overtake the domestic gross for Finding Dory.

The Lion King features the voices of Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, Billy Eichner, John Kani, John Oliver and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter among others. James Earl Jones retains his role from the original film as Mufasa.
