Late Bobbi Kristina Brown‘s ex-fiance, Nick Gordon has died in a suspected drug overdose on New Year’s Day.
Nick Gordon was taken in by Whitney Houston when he was 12 years old and raised alongside Bobbi Kristina. The two went public with their relationship after Houston’s death in 2012, something their families did not agree upon.
Shortly after they went public with their relationship, Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in a bathtub with lots of drugs in her system in January 2015. She remained in a coma for six months until her death.
Gordon was held legally liable for her death as her family won a civil case against him in 2016 after he failed to show up in court. He was ordered to pay $36 million to her family.
Now, Nick Gordon has died, as confirmed by his lawyer, Joe Habachy to CNN.
“My heart is heavy today after learning that my long-time client Nick Gordon died … while I cannot speak to the specific circumstances of his death, I can say that it’s been truly heartbreaking to have witnessed first hand the total devastation that drug addiction has wreaked upon a group of young friends, all of whom were loved and had immense potential,” Habachy said in a statement Wednesday.

“I talked to 6 hours before all this started you gave me my nickname Lil Wop and that Will forever be what I go by. you were my best friend and I never in a million years thought I’d be writing this for my ACE. I was there through every step. we all love you no matter what and we’ll all stay strong for you.
“New Years didn’t have to start like this and you just told me you HAD to see me for New Years but I’m blessed I got to talk to you last night. you will forever be my best friend nobody will ever take your place.”
