Larry King is seeking a divorce from his seventh wife, Shawn King, after nearly 22 years of marriage.
The 85-year-old talk show host filed a petition to end the marriage Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, several US media houses are reporting.
Larry King and Shawn King, then a singer and TV host, married in 1997 and have two adult sons, Chance, who’s 20 and Cannon, who’s 19.
TMZ reports the divorce documents list the date of separation as 6 June 2019 and that Larry King gave reasons of irreconcilable differences as the basis for seeking a divorce.
Also according to TMZ, the couple’s marriage has been plagued with trouble for several years including accusations of infidelity against Shawn. There is also an allegation that Shawn was planning to “screw” their sons out of their inheritance and that “the boys went to Larry and told him they were outraged by their mother’s conduct — presenting the documents — and pled with him to get out of the marriage,” sources tell TMZ. An advice Larry seems to have followed.
This is not the first time the couple had been reported to have trouble in their relationship. On 14 April 2010, both Larry and Shawn filed for divorce, but later reconciled.
Larry King has been married eight times to seven different women and has five children. He married and divorced Alene Akins twice.
The CNN presenter has overcome several serious health issues in recent years, including a bout with lung cancer two years ago.
