According to designer Jihyun Ryou, the ethlylene gas produced by apples prevents potatoes from sprouting.
Potatoes stored with an apple could stay firm and sprout-free even after eight weeks, compared to potatoes stored without an apple which will turn out soft, shriveled, and sad looking. So add an apple to your bag of potatoes and save them.
