The Dallas Mavericks may have lost their playoff debut against the highly-favored Los Angeles Clippers, but they would be proud of themselves after almost pulling an upset.
Dallas held a double-digit lead at one point and kept the game competitive all the way through the fourth quarter, despite the controversial ejection of Kristaps Porzingis in the third quarter and an early injury to Luka Doncic.
Yet, the Clippers were victorious in the end, winning 118-110, thanks to their superior depth and an incredible performance from their superstars, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, combining for a total of 56 Clippers points.
Luka Doncic on the other hand was a stand out performer for Dallas, notching up 42 points in the tie, a record for most points in a playoff debut with 13-of-21 shooting, and the Mavericks needed every one of them.
They scored only 46 points in nearly a half after Porzingis was ejected but he is poised for a comeback in Game 2.
