Rapper and businessman JAY-Z has reportedly applied for a trademark for the exclusive use of the Roc-A-Fella Diamond hand symbol, just because he’s within his legal rights to do.
According to TMZ, the rapper, real name Shawn Carter, wishes to use the roc(k) symbol in entertainment services in either music, video, TV or film.
In 2005, JAY-Z was sued by Diamond Dallas Page over the symbol, but the case was dismissed out of court. So apparently, Mr Carter doesn’t want a repeat of that scenario. Makes sense to us. However, TBD whether he will be able to pull this one off.
