Though Lazio and Roma share the same stadium, it has been reported that during their domestic league match, an area occupied by diehard Lazio fans known as the “ultras” was found out to be a scene of disgust for the Jewish community.

The seats bore stickers of one of the most popular victims of the holocaust Anne Frank, with an edit that made her adorn a Roma jersey and writings that say: ‘all Roma fans are Jews’.

The incident sparked an uproar among the Italian authorities as the head of the Jewish community in Rome took to Twitter to blast the behavior as not sport-like and the Sports minister Luca Lotti also added his voice that passion was no justification for such behavior and they are bent on identifying the culprits and punishing them.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito also showed he did not support this kind of madness as he visited a synagogue in Rome and mentioned that he is sorry for this incident, promising to take 200 fans to a museum on the site of Nazi death camp in Auschwitz.
