Argentine legend, Diego Maradona, who now works with FIFA was chosen along with Brazil legend Ronaldo Delima to award the FIFA Best Men’s player and Maradona admits it is painful that it wasn’t Messi that won.
The diminutive ex-player has been very vocal in his opinion that Lionel Messi is not just the best player but the best ever and once said he feels honored that the Barcelona star named him as an idol.
However, on the night of the FIFA Best Men’s player award, both Argentines were denied the honor as Ronaldo claimed the award for the second consecutive time and equaled Messi record of five in all.
Maradona let it slip that ‘it hurt’ handing the award to the Portuguese.
