Inter Milan beat Genoa to keeps slim title chance alive and put pressure on Juventus

Inter Milan move into the second position, four points behind leaders Juventus as former Manchester United teammates, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, both score in the 3-0 over Genoa.

Lukaku put Inter ahead in the 34th minute with a header from a Cristiano Biraghi cross before Sanchez struck in the 83rd minute, and Lukaku added his second in stoppage time – a beautiful solo effort.

Inter went above Atalanta with the win, while Genoa remains fourth from bottom, four points above the relegation zone having played a game more than Lecce, their rivals for the final relegation place.

Juventus will win the league with two games to spare if they beat Sampdoria on Sunday, but have only won once in their past five games.

Antonio Conte had lamented about the difficulties posed by a hectic fixture list and high temperatures, but his side was rewarded by two late goals against Genoa.

Romelu Lukaku broke the deadlock and sends Inter in front when he headed in from Cristiano Biraghi’s cross in the 34th minute.

Victor Moses, a loanee from Chelsea, slipped past a defender and his low cross found Sanchez who scored from close range with a shot off the underside of the bar with seven minutes left.

Sanchez is on a year-long loan from Manchester United which is set to end after the first week of August when the Serie A season finishes.

In stoppage time, Lukaku collected a pass out of defence, burst forward, cut inside a defender and drove the ball into the far corner for his 23rd league goal of the season.

Inter, who have two games left, moved above Atalanta into second place with 76 points, four behind Juventus who host Sampdoria on Sunday.
