The Inspector General of Police was invited to answer to the allegations of gross misconduct and corruption levelled against him by the Senator Isah Misau, representing Bauchi Central

It had been uncertain whether the IGP will appear before the Senate Adhoc set up to investigate the matter following a letter summoning written to him on the 16th Oct 2017 to that effect. The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, said that the IGP should show an example and come forward as it is in his own interest to prove that he has nothing to appear.

The IGP was accompanied by members of the Police Management Team and an officer from the public relations department according to the Daily Post. Idris had on Friday confirmed his readiness to appear before the Senate ad-hoc committee investigating him over allegations of corruption.
