Identity gone wrong! Adekunle Gold rejects being compared to R. Kelly

Adekunle Gold has reacted to a fan’s comment saying that he looks like America’s R & B singer R. Kelly, who is currently in jail awaiting trial for miscellaneous sexually related offences in Chicago and New York.

The fan, who goes by the Twitter Identity Crazy Apprentice @NaijafrolicBlog, however, wasn’t exactly comparing their style of music nor delivery but rather their physical appearance. According to crazy Appearance, the similarity is striking owing to Adekunle’s hairstyle.

“Our own R. Kelly. U sha look like him maybe cos of ur hair do sha,” reads the tweet.

Well, Adekunle Gold didn’t find that tweet funny as he replies: “God forbid”.

Some Twitter users have since waged into the exchange with some pointing out that Adekunle might not have given the same response if R. Kelly has not been charged with sex trafficking and related offences.

Furthermore, a good number of the users expressed the view that being compared to an indicted sexual offender is not a compliment.

And as one Twitter user says: “Me sef God forbid am for you.”

It should, however, be noted that R. Kelly has denied all charges and has not been convicted of any of the charges. He has two trials coming up, where he would have the opportunity to defend his “Not guilty” plea. He would be tried first in Chicago in April 2020. His second trial is scheduled in New York for May 2020.

Just during the week, New York’s Judge Ann Donnely denied his bail application saying he is a flight risk and could pose a risk to witnesses.
