“It’s true that I’m consulted [on transfers],” he told France Football.
“And I told him [President Nasser al-Khelaifi] again that Kante would be good for our team. I spoke to N’Golo during the World Cup but without abusing because I know what it is when you fill your head with transfers.
“In the end, I just put a few words in his pockets, which he must have discovered once he returned home, to get the message across.”
Kante has been impressive for Chelsea since he joined from Leicester City where he helped win the Premier League title.
