Alan Horn, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios, said in a statement: “The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him.”
Gunn had come under fire in recent days after offensive posts – in which he joked about paedophilia and rape – between 2008 and 2012 came to light. However, a petition has been written, calling upon Disney to re-hire Gunn. Signatures on the petition has exceeded 150,000 with several Hollywood figures urging people to sign.
