The governor made the donation to the club in appreciation of their performance in the season’s concluded Nigerian League and to support their campaign in the forthcoming CAF Champion League.
The club will be representing Nigeria in the 2018 CAF Champions League as will Plateau United who were the league winners.
“We commend the management and officials for their brilliant performance last season and also qualifying for the 2018 CAF Champions League,” a statement on the governor’s official Twitter handle read.

In its response, the club MFM also tweeted their appreciation of the gesture by State government.
“His Excellency Governor, @AkinwunmiAmbode dole out millions of naira on MFM FC for booking #CAFCL ticket last season. We are grateful sir.”
