'God will punish you' – Toke Makinwa slams Twitter user over #EndSARS tweet

Media personality Toke Makinwa has slammed a Twitter user who claimed she and her group of friends only took pictures at a Lagos #EndSARS protest.

Earlier, Toke had joined several other Nigerian celebrities to lend their voices and march for the #EndSARS campaign.

According to the Twitter user, Toke and her group of friends just took pictures, showed off designers, and made Snapchat videos with red cups and went home.

The Twitter user, identifying as NNEKA and who goes by the Twitter handle @SheLovesArtemis, took to her handle to write: “Toke Makinwa and her group of friends attended today’s protest to snap photos, show off designer outfits, make snaps with red cup and go home. My IG timeline is annoying rn”

Toke who appeared very upset by the tweet replied the user. She tweets: “God will punish you for this tweet, I don’t owe anyone anything but FYI, I resumed at the protest at past 10 am, skipped work to walk from the toll gate to Onikan, you won’t make this protest about me.”

A number of Toke Makinwa’s followers came to her defence imploring her to ignore Twitter user @SheLovesArtemis.

One writes: “Please don’t waste your time on all these frustrated lots Maybe she wants a giveaway.”

Another says: “She doesn’t deserve your reply, she’s jealous and I’m glad her followers blasted her under her Tweet.”

As the previous commenter said, there were people who slammed NNEKA for her tweet.

“This Nneka sef, shey person cannot match blue nose mask with a blue bag again ni,” writes HaleemaoooRed who goes by the handle @Handyleema.
She continues: “Should she dress anyhow because she wanted to be heard. Gbohun wa’le jare, you ain’t making sense.”

While Twitter user Emmy Rich Rock (@buntu_emmy) says (lightly edited for clarity): “@SheLovesArtemisyou shouldn’t have said something like that to @tokstarr.

“For God sake! What do you want to achieve with all this? You no try at all and I beg you with your ancestors don’t bring division among us because we are enjoying this very moment as Nigerians.”
