According to the Belfast Telegraph, filming for the new show will begin in October and will also take place at Paint Hall studios in Belfast, where the original Game of Thrones series was shot.
The prequel will be set during the decline of the Age of Heroes, 1,000 years prior to the events of the war of the five kings which marked the beginning of Game of Thrones. It will explore the history of the Stark family and the origins of the White Walkers.
