Former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Akinwumi Adesina loses Dad

Akinwumi Adesina, a former Nigerian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, has taken to his Twitter page on Thursday 29th March to announce the death of his father who he also called his role model.

In the tweet, the former minister appreciates his father’s effort in educating him.

He says: “My darling father and best friend, Roland F. Adesina, passed away yesterday morning. I wouldn’t have been who I am today without your love and sacrifice. Thanks for sending me to school and being a role model. Rest in peace, my very dear senior Ombros!

Akinwumi Adesina was appointed as Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2010. In 2015, he became the first Nigerian president of the African Development Bank in 2015.

Prior to his appointment as a minister in 2010, he was the vice president of policy and partnerships for the Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA).
