Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known popularly as Wizkid, and Bankole Wellington aka Banky W of Empire Mates Entertainment joined forces to release what was Wizkid’s last effort under his former boss, Banky W and EME music.

The album was self-titled “Ayo” meaning Joy and it was the second studio album by Wizkid. It was released on the 17th of September 2017.

Wizkid enlisted Sarz, Shizzi, Uhuru, Del B, Dokta Frabz, Maleek Berry, Legendury Beatz, and Spellz to produce the album and it also featured collaborations with Femi Kuti, Seyi Shay, Yemi Sax, Akon, Banky W., Phyno, Tyga and Wale.

Wizkid has always seen himself as the pop version of the legendary Fela Kuti and its evident in his choice of music and throughout the album.

The album, Ayo, was postponed twice and took two years of production to finish off the 19-track piece but still, many felt it wasn’t high up there amongst the best albums someone of Wizkid’s status should be delivering.
