Deborah Ayorinde cast in lead role for upcoming Netflix original horror series, Them: Covenant

British-Nigerian actress, Deborah Ayorinde, has been cast in the lead role of Them: Covenant, a horror anthology series, Shadow and Act reports.

Them: Covenant is a Netflix original that is bankrolled by Lena Waithe and written by Little Marvin, who is also executive producing.

In the first season, Them: Covenant, will “follow the still-to-be-cast characters of Alfred and Lucky Emory (Ashley Thomas and Deborah Ayorinde) who decide to move their family from North Carolina to an all-white Los Angeles neighbourhood. The family’s home on a tree-lined, seemingly idyllic street becomes ground zero where malevolent forces both real and supernatural threaten to taunt, ravage and destroy them.”

Lena Waithe calls Deborah’s casting “phenomenal” on Instagram. “This news I am over the moon about! Let’s go!

Ayorinde is best known for her roles in Girls Trip and Luke Cage. She most recently starred in the third season of True Detective, and she’ll be seen in the upcoming biopic, Harriet.

Them: Covenant is still in pre-production stages, with no release date announced yet.
