Popular Nigerian musician, Oladapo Oyebanji, who is popularly known as D’banj, has asked the lady who accused him of rape to pay a sum of NGN 100m within 48 hours or face legal action.
D’banj made the demands in response to an allegation by one Miss Seyitan that the singer raped her in a hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos two years ago.
The lady accused the singer through her friend, a Nigerian model scout Benjamin Ese, of raping her two years ago.
According to him, Dbanj had some time raped his friend after he offered her N200,000 in exchange for sex, and she refused.
Recently, a number of public figures, including Uti Nwachukwu, Nigerian singer Peruzzi and now, singer D’banj have been accused of rape.
Since rape victims in Nigeria were allowed an avenue for their voices to be heard, a number of people have come forward with what seems like false accusations against top members of the Nigerian entertainment industry and right now, they aren’t taking these accusations lightly.
Taking to his Instagram page, D’banj in the pre-litigation letter signed by his lawyer, Mike Ezekhome (SAN) and addressed to Miss Babatayo’s lawyer, Ojoge, Omileye and Partners, demanded that an apology be published in at least four national dailies in 48 hours. They are also asking for NGN100 million in compensation “for battering his image”
