Danai Gurira, who played General Okoye of the all-women army, the Dora Milaje, has been cast in the forthcoming Disney Plus Blank Panther spin-off series. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news to the excitement of fans.

Danai was also announced earlier this year to have rejoined the cast for Ryan Coogler’s upcoming Black Panther sequel, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”. The sequel, which has been set for a July 2022 release, will not be recasting the role of King T’Chala as a show of respect to the late Chadwick Boseman.

Other cast members like Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, and Letitia Wright are all expected to return for the new film. It is left to be seen how the new movie will play out without a King T.Chala. However, the plot, according to rumours, is a juicy one.

Speaking with Good Morning America some months ago, Lupita said, “I know that all of us are dedicated to reimagining or carrying on his legacy in this new Black Panther, and Ryan Coogler has some really, really exciting ideas that I look forward to bringing to life with the rest of the family.”

The TV Series, which is yet to be titled, will be produced by Ryan Coogler’s Proximity Media. Fans are hoping it will be centered on the origin of the all-women army, Dora Milaje. Now that General Okoye (Danai Gurira) has been cast, that hope is made even stronger. Time will tell.
