The city of Chicago is suing Jussie Smollett for refusing to pay more than $130,000 to reimburse costs of investigating an alleged anti-gay attack on him in the city.
According to them, the deadline passed on Thursday and now a civil complaint will be filed.
The City of Chicago’s law department in a statement Thursday says it will “pursue the full measure of damages allowed.” It also stated that the lawsuit will be filed “in the near future”.

After initially being treated as a victim Smollett was accused of staging the attack and became the subject of a police investigation, but the charges against the actor were dropped last week.
Smollett, who is black and gay, maintains he has told the truth since reporting to police that two masked men assaulted him, shouting slurs and wrapping a rope around his neck.
