Yesterday, NET reported that Tiwa Savage was angry after she discovered that Ciara’s new single bore striking semblance to her song, Before Nko.
Ciara wrote on her Instagram page: “Shout out to @TiwaSavage on the inspiration and sample used in #FreakMe! She’s a beast! I fell in love with the melody when I first heard it in Africa 3 years ago. So good. #AfroWave”
Though Ciara had listed Tiwa Savage, Don Jazzy and D’Prince who featured on the original record as writers of the song, neither Tiwa or the anyone in Mavin Records was aware of Ciara’s use of their material.
