Chris Brown files defamation lawsuit against accuser

Brown’s Paris-based attorney, Raphael Chiche, filed the complaint on Thursday, 24th January. The document is titled False Accusation, Committed On January 18, 2019. It appears this is more than a civil defamation case.

According to the document obtained by TMZ, the lawyer is citing a criminal statute relating to the invasion of privacy. A violation of that law carries a maximum one-year prison sentence.

The woman, on the other hand, has released a statement clarifying her claims.

Lawyers for the woman have said that while she was not pressured “physically” to have sex with the singer, 29, she was under “great psychological pressure in a masculine environment.”

The statement reads: “There were forced sexual relations […] It was a masculine environment. My client explains that it was non-consensual sex. ‘She was not pressured physically. This was a very particular environment with great psychological pressure.’ The young woman, who has not been named for legal reasons, says she was ‘cornered her in a room that was locked’ where she was faced with ‘forced sexual relations,” TMZ reports.

She says she was surrounded by “older men, men who you imagine to be buff.”

The 29-year-old singer was detained Monday along with his bodyguard and one other person after a 24-year-old woman accused him of raping her in a hotel room last week.

He was later released from police custody on Tuesday and won’t face any charges at this time, but an investigation continues.
