Captain Marvel is the latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that has now pulled in over $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

This makes Captain Marvel the studio’s seventh most successful theatrical release.

The film’s updated tally comes in at $1,002,651,774 – with roughly $358 million of that coming from the US, and $644 million from international audiences.

If Captain Marvel wants to surpass Captain America: Civil War, currently in sixth place, it will have to earn an extra $150 million.

However, it’s still the second most lucrative origin story film in the MCU, behind only Black Panther. The studio’s biggest smash remains Avengers: Infinity War which earned over $2 billion at the box office alone – and early tracking suggests Avengers: Endgame could surpass that when it arrives in three weeks.
