Singer, Burna Boy just said what all of have been thinking ever since it emerged that the supposed beef between super stars Davido and Wizkid may well have been that – a supposition.
But the rumour of the beef was so S-T-R-O-N-G and persistent that almost everyone, except maybe the close friends of the two, more or less believed it.
We have no idea at all as to how it all started but rumour has it that it was all about tussle for supremacy. The supposed beef also took such a firm hold among hip-hop fans who are either for one or the other of the stars. Those of us who only cared for good music were regarded as traitors by the supposedly ‘true’ fans of the artists.
Whatever the real situation of things was or is now, a common saying is that there’s no smoke without fire.
Moreover, when no discernible actions were taken by either of the artists to dispell the rumours, it became a fact – it was that bad.
Maybe neither Davido nor Wizkid thought it was their business to steer peoples’ thought away from the negative energy surrounding the whole brouhaha. A marketing gimmick? PR stunt? Or just because the believed it was totally a trivial matter and not worth dwelling upon?
Who knows?
Anyway, in the present writer’s opinion, there’s no smoke without fire as noted above and no matter what the display was, Davido and Wizkid have not always been very chummy as they portrayed on the night of the Christmas Eve concert.
The writer thinks that recent events may have conspired to make these two re-evaluate their relationship or lack of.
