Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak have announced a new collaborative album called Silk Sonic.
Their fans were obviously not expecting this news because until this announcement, they gave absolutely no clue.
Peter Gene Hernandez who is popularly known as Bruno Mars last made waves after his third studio album, the R&B-focused “24K Magic” enjoyed an outrageously successful outing at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
The album and its singles clinched seven awards including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year for “That’s what I like”.
Since then, he worked on Chic’s studio album, It’s About Time in 2018 and collaborated with Cardi B on the 2019 single “Please Me”. He also worked with Ed Sheeran and American singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton on “Blow” for Ed’s fourth studio album, No.6 Collaborations Project also in 2019.
Mars also has an upcoming film with Disney where he will both star and produce as well.
The upcoming album, Silk Sonic will include an appearance from Parliament Funkadelic bassist and funk star Bootsy Collins as a “special guest host.”
Collins dropped his most recent solo record, The Power of the One, in 2020 and it received positive reception in the media. He founded Funk University in 2010 with former child actor Cory Danziger which offers an intense curriculum tailored for intermediate to advanced bass players as well as anyone interested in a deeper understanding of funk.
