The actor was admitted to the intensive care unit of Mumbai’s Kokilaben hospital on Tuesday with a colon infection. In March 2018, he revealed that he had been diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour.
However, after receiving treatment, he recovered and went on to star in the film, Angrezi Medium, which will be his last film. Angrezi Medium was set for release in March was delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Irfan Khan was born as Saahabzaade Irfan Ali Khan in Jaipur, India to a tyre seller. After failing as a cricketer, he went to drama school. He had a rocky start, getting only small roles, which was a source of frustration for him.
His breakout role came in British director, Asif Kapadia’s The Warrior, which went on to win the San Sebastián film festival and won the Bafta award for best British film.
