The Black Panther sequel better bring its all because clearly, the first film is still enjoying its time in the spotlight.

At the Hollywood Film Awards which will take place on the fourth of November, Black Panther will be receiving 2018’s award.

“Black Panther became a cultural phenomenon that has broken boundaries and created a movement, gracing the cover of Time magazine,” the HFA said in a statement. “Black Panther had the highest-grossing non-sequel opening weekend of all time, showing that diversity and representation in front and behind the camera can equal global box-office success.”

The movie will also be honoured with the Hollywood Production Design Award.

The news comes just a few weeks after it was announced that Ryan Coogler had signed on for a return to direct the sequel. Black Panther had the highest-grossing opening weekend of all time for a non-sequel film, raking in $241.9 million.
