After a training session that new coach Ernesto Valverde organized with the hope of getting the players to recover from fatigue they must have acquired after playing two League games in the space of four days the Spanish Agency for Health Protection in Sport (AEPSAD) decided to conduct an anti-doping test on six senior players.
The training section had ended very late and nearly midnight before Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta, Javier Mascherano, Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba were tested for banned substances by the agency.
