Verne Troyer, the petite actor known for playing Mini Me in the Austin Powers comedy films, has been hospitalised for a “reported poisoning” on Monday night.

A report from TMZ has it that this happened after a friend called the emergency services from Verne’s home claiming he was “upset, drunk and suicidal.” He’s being held over 72 hours, according to the news outlet.

A statement, which later appeared on Troyer’s Instagram site, says: “Asking you to keep Verne in your thoughts and prayers. He’s getting the best care possible and is resting comfortably. Appreciate the support from family, friends, and fans around the world. We will keep you updated.”

Last year, Troyer was also hospitalised after he voluntarily checked into rehab over his battle with alcohol addiction.
