This year, fans of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) will get to watch movies nominated in the Best Film award category, the founder of AMAA, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe reveals during a press conference.
“This year, we plan to show all the movies nominated in the Best Movie category at Terra Kulture” (Arts and Studio, Victoria Island Lagos) “So that people can relate to these movies and see why they are in that category”, she said. The films will be shown over a three day period.
Last year, the Best Film award was won presented to Burkina Faso‘s “Eye of the Storm“, a movie directed by Sékou Traoré and produced by Axel Guyot. It starred actors Fargrass Assandre and Ma?mouna N’diaye. The movie told the story of an idealistic lawyer who reluctantly defends a rebel, and former child soldier, on trial for war crimes. Over time, the lawyer began to understand the psychological ramifications and effects on adults of brainwashing youth for war.
The 2017 AMAA event is expected to be one of the biggest in its history so far, more so as Lagos State, as the host city is pitching in her Lagos@50 celebration. It will be the 13th instalment of the yearly award and will hold on 15th July 2017 at the Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos. Meanwhile, actress, Nse Ikpe-Etim has been announced as the host for the 2017 event.

1. The Last of Us
A man traversing the desert to North Africa steals a boat. When it breaks down, he begins an imaginary surrealistic odyssey where he meets an older man, who might be an altered version himself, and, in a wild landscape, rediscovers his relationship with primary nature.
