Nigerian’s sole entrant to the Men’s Shot put event in the ongoing IAAF World Athletics Championships, Enekwechi Chukwuebuka is out of the competition. Chukwuebuka, threw 19.72m which is short of the 20.75m needed to proceed to the final stage. His personal best was 21.07m set barely two weeks ago in Cork, Ireland. Stephen Mozia, is the Nigeria Record holder for the sports with a throw of 21.77m. He is absent in this year’s event.

It was also another disheartening news as Edose Ibadin crashed out of the Men’s 800m in the first round. There were six heats that make up this round; first three athletes in each heat and the next six fastest advance to the semi-final. Ibadin clocked a time of 1:46:56, which was not enough to get him to the semi-final stage of the competition.
