‘1917’ took home the highest number of awards for the day, including the categories for best film, best British film, best director and best cinematography.
Joker’s Joaquin Phoenix was named best actor for his masterful portrayal of Arthur Fleck. He also took the opportunity to speak about systemic racism in the film industry.
Renee Zellweger took home the award for best actress for her portrayal of Judy Garland.
