Emma Stone says ‘Playing Jean King was empoering’.

Talking about the movie Battle of the Sexes to sportswomen at the European Premiere at the BFI London Film Festival, Stone had noted that it was at first daunting to play a woman who is a legend in the movie and also meeting her in real life was exciting. She said she worked with Jean King on the court during the shooting and playing the role empowered her. The movie is about the stories surrounding the match that saw Billie Jean King beat ex-pro Bobby Riggs in front of 30,000 spectators.

 

Giroud’s ‘Scorpion Kick’ is up for the Puskas Award.

Arsenal striker Oliver Giroud has had his Scorpion Kick strike nominated for the Puskas Award for 2017 along with goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke and female footballer Deyna Castellanos. Giroud had executed the kick against Crystal Palace in the domestic league while Oscarine (who is the first goalkeeper to reach the final three) equalized for Baroka FC in the dying minutes against Orlando Pirates and Deyna scored from the halfway line for Venezuela against Cameroon in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2016.

After ten years of studying, the Polish striker who plies his trade also at Bayern Munich has been given a degree by the Warsaw School of Education and it is funny that his thesis study was on himself.

Groves says he is the ‘true no 1’.

The WBA Champion faces Jamie Cox at Wembley Arena for the quarter-finals face off of the super-middleweight competition. George Groves said he is the best in-form fighter at the moment and will take nothing away from the match except a victory because he will not let Cox stand in his way to victory.

Without Gareth Bale, Wales had hard-pressed the Republic but couldn’t find a cutting edge but McClean came off with the better part as his lone strike dumped Wales out of the qualifiers in Cardiff and his coach has expressed his delight at the quality of the strike and what it means for the country.
