At the 15th African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA 2019), it was a night of glamour and excitement as the who is who in the African film industry gather to honour excellence in filmmaking among African filmmakers and professionals in the industry.
The venue was the Landmark Event Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. The hosts for the event were filmmaker c-m actress Lara Akindoju, radio presenter Lorenzo Menakaya and comedian Funny Bone.

In addition, we covered everything that happened in the buildup to AMAA 2019 extravaganza, which held on Sunday night. Th highlights of which, is to reveal the winners of this year’s awards.
In total, 26 awards were up for grabs, with the best as adjudged by the jury, emerging winners.

- Best Achievement in Costume Design – Mercy of the Jungle (Rwanda)
- Best Achievement in Make-Up – Mercy of the Jungle (Rwanda)
- Best Achievement in Soundtrack – Mabata Bata (Mozambique)
- Best Achievement in Visual Effects – The Delivery Boys (Nigeria)
- Best Achievement sound – Sew The Winter In My Skin (South Africa)
- National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) award for Best Nigerian Film – King of Boys
- Best cinematography – Sew the Winter to My Skin (South Africa)
- Best Achievement in Editing – Rafiki (Kenya)
- Best Achievement in Screenplay – Redemption, (Mozambique)
- Best Young/Promising Actor; Cynthia Dankwa (Esi) Burial of Kojo (Ghana)
