BNN Bloomberg says Coca-Cola is interested in developing the drinks, which a source says fall into the ‘recovery drink’ category.
According to Reuters, while the sales of sugary sodas are reducing, health drinks are on the rise. The drinks will be expected to ease inflammation, pain and cramping.
Although the company refused to comment on the story, a company spokesperson Kent Landers sent a statement to BNN Bloomberg saying:
“Along with many others in the beverage industry, we are closely watching the growth of non-psychoactive CBD as an ingredient in functional wellness beverages around the world. The space is evolving quickly. No decisions have been made at this time.”
If Coca-Cola goes through with it, it will be the first non-alcoholic drinks manufacturer to make cannabis-infused drinks.
