Spanish side Real Madrid have tabled a lucrative contract for Austrian defender David Alaba to join the club but still needs to wait on the decision of the Bayern Munich player who has yet to decide on his future.

Alaba’s contract at Bayern Munich is set to expire at the end of the season and the Austrian International is free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of Germany.

Bayern, however, have offered Alaba multiple contract extensions, including a £13m-a-year deal which the player rejected as talks ceased in November 2020.

Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Manchester City are reportedly interested in the vastly experienced defender, and Real faces stiff competition in landing the player.

Alaba would make the final call on his future likely either in April or May as he does not fancy a move in the January transfer window.

His agent, Pini Zahavi, is close friends with Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta and may wait until after elections to discuss a possible move to the Nou Camp.

Alaba has spent 13 years at the German club and he has won nine Bundesliga titles and two Champions League crowns.
