Serie A Roundup: Cristiano Ronaldo scores twice as Juve move to a point off top after huge win

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Juventus enjoyed a comfortable 4-0 win over Parma to maintain their unbeaten Serie A start.

Sweden’s 20-year-old forward Dejan Kulusevski opened the scoring after being set up by Alex Sandro in the 23rd minute.

Three minutes later, Ronaldo headed in Juve’s second and fired in his 12th league goal of the season shortly after half-time.

Alvaro Morata completed the rout late in the game after getting on the end of a cross from Federico Bernardeschi.

Juventus now sit third on the standings despite having drawn six of their 13 Serie A matches this season.

Saturday’s win over Parma ensured they keep the pressure on league leaders AC Milan, who are one point ahead and face Sassuolo on Sunday.

Juventus and AC Milan also remain the only clubs with an unbeaten league record in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo, who had a penalty saved as Juventus drew with Atalanta on Wednesday, redeemed himself against Parma and has now scored 63 goals in 73 Serie A appearances.

The 35-year-old former Real Madrid forward is tied with Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski for the most goals in Europe’s top five leagues in 2020, after Lewandowski also reached 32 on Saturday.
